Bournemouth boss Scott Parker will make a late call on striker Dominic Solanke ahead of Saturday evening’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.
The striker’s early football journey began at Chelsea’s youth academy, where he joined at the age of 8 and developed into one of the most promising talents in the club’s youth ranks.
Solanke’s breakthrough came when he helped Chelsea’s U19 team win the UEFA Youth League in 2015, finishing as the top scorer in the competition. He also contributed to the club’s FA Youth Cup triumphs in 2014 and 2015.
Internationally, he made a significant impact with the England youth teams. His crowning moment came in 2017, when he played a pivotal role in England’s U20 World Cup victory, winning the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.
Despite his potential, first-team opportunities at Chelsea were limited, leading to a move to Liverpool in 2017. However, competition for places restricted Solanke’s appearances at Anfield, and in 2019, he transferred to AFC Bournemouth for a reported fee of £19 million.
At Bournemouth, Solanke found consistent form and playing time. He played a key role in the club’s promotion push during the 2021-2022 season, scoring 29 goals in the Championship, making him the second-highest scorer in the division. His goals were vital in securing Bournemouth’s return to the Premier League.
He has matured into a reliable forward, often leading the line and contributing crucial goals and assists for his team as they compete to establish themselves as a top-flight club. In August 2024, he secured a move to Tottenham Hotspur for a reported €64,30 mil.
