Kaizer Chiefs’ Brandon Petersen ready to fight for the no.1 spot

Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper Brandon Petersen is back to full fitness after recovering from a finger injury and is ready to fight for his place.

The 30-year-old shared goalkeeping duties with Bruce Bvuma last season, making 11 appearances in all competitions.

This season, new signing Fiacre Ntwari has started all of the club’s Betway Premiership games so far.

Petersen picked up his injury just a week before the start of the new campaign but is looking forward to his competitive return.

The keeper said in the Sowetan: “Competition is always good for me. I love competition because if there’s no competition, you tend to relax.

“Obviously, I’ve been out with injury but I am back to full fitness now and obviously looking forward to start competing for the No.1 spot.”

Petersen added: “Fiacre has been doing well and for me, whoever plays has my backing 100% because when I also play, I expect that.

“I am looking forward to the season to fight for the No.1 spot and when I get the opportunity to play, I will grab it with both hands and just contribute.”

Kaizer Chiefs will take on SuperSport United in a double-clash, on the weekend of 19-20 they will clash in the opening round of the Carling Knockout Cup and that will be followed by a league clash against Matsatsantsa on October 26 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
