Miguel Timm happy to fight for his place at Orlando Pirates

Miguel Timm says he will continue to conduct himself as a model professional despite slipping down the pecking order at Orlando Pirates this season.

The 32-year-old played 30 times in all competitions for the Buccaneers last season but has featured just twice this term.

He played 24 minutes of a CAF Champions League qualifier and 17 minutes in the MTN8 semi-final second leg.

While he has struggled with an ongoing ankle problem, Timm has seen his spot taken by Thalente Mbatha.

But instead of feeling sorry for himself, the former Marumo Gallants midfielder insisted he will keep working hard and support his teammates until his chance comes again.

Timm told Marawa Sports Worldwide: “You come into this sport, knowing that it’s not boxing, it’s not tennis, you’re not doing this on your own.

“Of course, you want to play, you want to be involved all the time. That’s what you work for.

“I think I have enough experience to know how to conduct myself when things are not going the way you’d want, obviously not making the squad or sometimes on the bench.

“I’m not the type of player to also ask hierarchy – whether it’s management or technical team, I respect the decisions and choices.

“And what can I complain about at this moment because when you see the record now from the start of the season, we haven’t lost a game yet.

“So, it’s about continuing to work on myself, being an example, there’s a lot of young players.

“It’s still a privilege to be part of this club. I couldn’t be happier, yes you want to play more but I think we have a long season ahead.”
