Pitso: Rantie’s ill-discipline could not be tolerated

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says Tokelo Rantie’s ill-discipline could not be tolerated at the club and that is why the former Bafana Bafana striker had to go.

Rantie’s career was handed a lifeline by Mosimane when he was given a contract in September after a lengthy trial. But the 29-year-old was then reported missing from training on December 22 and did not return for a week before having his contract terminated.

“Tokelo is a sad case. We cannot tolerate it. If you’re ill-disciplined then you cannot play at Sundowns. We have got too many games and too much travelling to deal with,” Mosimane told Goal.

“So, we cannot police anyone and if training sessions disturb his life, then he needs to choose something different that is better than coming to training – let him do that, that’s it!”

The Brazilians are now looking for a striker, having had both Emiliano Tade and Rantie released from their contracts in recent weeks. And Masandawana are reportedly keeping tabs on former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona.
