Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt has praised his counterpart at Orlando Pirates, Josef Zinnbauer, for the job he’s done so far.
Hunt’s charges knocked the Buccaneers out of the Nedbank Cup round of 32 via a penalty shootout on Sunday, as they were level at 3-3 after extra-time, but he was impressed by what he saw from the Soweto giants.
“It was a good cup game [from both teams], but sometimes you’ve got to lose. All credit to them though,” Hunt told the media, according to Goal.
“Josef’s done a good job there, they’re coming around, playing good and entertaining [football] and the players are moving.”
Under the guidance of Zinnbauer, Pirates have won five consecutive league games and put themselves in position to challenge for the title.
Hunt went on to also praise one of his former players, Gabadinho Mhango, who leads the Premiership scoring charts with 14 goals for Pirates this campaign.
He added: “I mean, Mhango, I had him for three or four years, we won the league and he did well for us; he’s scoring now, so you’ve got to give credit to the coaching staff and players.”
