BREAKING: BONGANI ZUNGU PARTS WAYS WITH MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Veteran midfielder Bongani Zungu has confirmed that he is leaving reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The club has not released an official statement regarding Zungu’s departure, but the player himself took to Instagram to announce the conclusion of his second tenure with the Tshwane-based giants.

Zungu reunited with Masandawana two years ago, following a successful six-year stint in Europe. During his time abroad, he showcased his skills at Vitoria Guimaraes SC in Portugal, Amiens SC in France, and with the Scottish powerhouse, Rangers.

Despite his departure, the 31-year-old midfielder has remained tight-lipped about his future plans. However, media speculation is rife, linking him to various potential destinations.

“I would like to thank Mamelodi Sundowns fans, the technical team, and the president for the last two seasons,” Zungu wrote on social media.

“The relationship I have with the club is beyond the professional space, Sundowns will always be family to me and the entire Zungu family.

“I will always be grateful for every opportunity I was offered, so I say this with a heavy heart that I will be leaving the club.

“Thank you to all the amazing supporters who have been amazing to me throughout, I will always be grateful. I wish the team all the best, I know bigger success awaits you.”
