The Rockets are fighting for their top-flight survival down in 13th place with just 26 points from 27 games.
They are, however, three points from the drop zone and have three remaining matches to save their season, against Cape Town City, Marumo Gallants and Chippa United.
Mbatha scooped the Man of the Match award for his performance against Bucs and insisted his teammates follow up their showing with similar desire in their last few ties.
He told the Sowetan: “It’s tough, I won’t say it is going to be easy. The three points were important, but we must continue showing the same performance in the upcoming matches to get out of this situation.
“But if we can show the same performance we did against Pirates, I believe we will win more matches. The way we played showed that we wanted to win and the way we defended showed that we were hungry for three points.”
Mbatha added: “It is always nice to get a Man-of-the-Match [award] when the team has won, unlike when you have lost. I’m so excited and with age no longer on my side, the upcoming generation who will take over will have to work hard for the team.”
