Middendorp: We are prepared to suffer and support each other

Ernst Middendorp is hoping that Maritzburg United can build on their win against Royal AM away to Stellenbosch on Saturday.

The Team of Choice were in desperate need of three points at home to the second-placed side and eternally grateful when Friday Samu scored the only goal at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday.

They remain in danger of relegation though, with 27 points in 12th place on the DStv Premiership with three games of the season to play, followed closely by Chippa United (27 points) and TS Galaxy (26), who also picked up a good win.

Middendorp told SuperSport: “It was a good result after Galaxy winning against [Orlando] Pirates surprisingly, Baroka also getting a victory against Golden Arrows but we were not guided or inspired by the results elsewhere.”

The head coach added: “It was our second-last home game. We needed to win and pick up these points to go into the next two away games [without too much pressure].

“We are prepared to suffer and support each other and show this collective what you have seen today and we can get the points. To be in a comfortable position in the league.”
