AmaZulu winger Mxolisi Kunene has urged Usuthu to put up a fight in the quest for three points against in-form Cape Town City on Saturday at Cape Town Stadium.
The former Swallows, Baroka and Maritzburg United player had not featured for the Durban-based side under former coach Benni McCarthy since joining the club at the start of the season,
However, the 30-year-old has featured in four of the five recent matches since the former Bafana Bafana legends’ departure, three of which were under coach Brandon Truter.
“For me, it was not easy at all, I have been out for so long, I can say it’s almost two years now without playing but I’m really happy that I’m back now doing what I love the most, I can just thank God and the support I get from my teammates and the coaching staff,” said Kunene.
“I am happy now because they are giving me a chance, I have been waiting for this chance to come and I’m just praying that I can grab this chance with both hands, whatever the situation, I am ready to fight for my position in the team,” he added.
The KwaZulu-Natal team will be facing an in-form Cape Town City this weekend, as the Captonians look to seal their CAF Champions League spot for next season.
The Citizens have only lost once at home this season, winning eight times and drawing five times in the Western Cape and are yet to lose in the league in 2022.
“The upcoming game against City is a very important game to us, even though we are playing away from home but I think it is possible that we can come back with maximum points because I think we are more than ready to go there and fight,” concluded Kunene.
AmaZulu will also be looking to finish the season unbeaten under coach Brandon Truter, having won three of their five most recent DStv Premiership fixtures.
