Manchester City close in on title thanks to Kevin De Bruyne masterclass

A Kevin De Bruyne masterclass helped Manchester City move within touching distance of another Premier League title after he scored four goals in a 5-1 thrashing of Wolves.

The Belgian claimed a hat-trick inside 24 minutes at Molineux – his first treble since 2011 – and added a fourth after the break.
Leander Dendoncker had levelled for Wolves in the 11th minute but it was one-way traffic after that for Pep Guardiola’s men, who could effectively seal the title on Sunday with victory at West Ham due to their superior goal difference over rivals Liverpool.
Raheem Sterling put gloss on the scoreline with a fifth in the 84th minute to take City onto 89 points, three ahead of the Reds and with a goal difference of +72 in comparison to 65 for the second-placed outfit, who play in the FA Cup final this weekend.
Chelsea increased Leeds’ relegation fears with a 3-0 win at Elland Road to also boost their own hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Jesse Marsch saw his side go behind inside four minutes when Mason Mount curled into the top corner following Reece James’ cutback and when Dan James saw red midway through the first half, it left the hosts with an uphill battle.
Mateo Kovacic was unable to continue but Thomas Tuchel’s men wrapped up the points when Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku added further goals in the second half.
Leeds stay third from bottom, while fellow strugglers Everton were forced to settle for a point at already-relegated Watford.
The Hornets, who announced promotion-winning Forest Green boss Rob Edwards would be their manager next season hours before kick-off, battled to a 0-0 draw under veteran Roy Hodgson.
It halted their record-breaking run of 11 consecutive top-flight home defeats but Everton, who stay 16th, could only move a point further clear of the bottom three.
Elsewhere, a Jamie Vardy brace inspired Leicester to a 3-0 win over rock-bottom Norwich.
The Canaries held the Foxes until half-time but Vardy broke the deadlock with a deflected effort in the 54th minute and added a second shortly afterwards for his 150th league goal.
James Maddison, who came through Norwich’s academy, piled more misery on his old side with a third 20 minutes from time to help Brendan Rodgers’ men move up to 10th.
