Maritzburg Utd v Black Aces Preview

ABSA Premiership | Wednesday 18 September | Harry Gwala Stadium | 19:30

To Win (90 Min)

Maritzburg Utd 11/10

Black Aces 5/2

Draw 21/10

Maritzburg United were outclassed at Soccer City, as the league champs’ pedigree was apparent for all to see.

With no real strike force, it was their last man, Shu-aib Walters that shone through, picking up a man of the match award despite being on the losing side.

They’ll be happy to be home, but not so happy with their next opponents.

Aces are never going to challenge the top sides, but they can be a right nuisance.

And for a side like United, searching for the confidence to get their league going, it poses a huge threat.

A draw with Supersport United on Sunday felt like a win considering the opposition.

And trust the ever-controversial Mabhuti Khenyeza to be on the score sheet too.

Aces come into this game on the front foot, leaving the home side with all the work to do to get points.

I may be making this out to sound worse than it is, and I still think Maritzburg will come away with something here.

Their issue is a lack of strike force at the moment.

Delron Buckley, who is still injured, is a spark in their side, and they’ll be without him for Wednesday’s clash.

Betting Prediction: Draw

If they can overcome that and someone can step up to the plate, three points is a possibility. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see them play uncharacteristically tight at home, making the draw the best option here at 21/10.
