Scottish Premiership Preview

Scottish Premiership
There are just three fixtures in the SPL this weekend which will all be played on Saturday at 16:00.

We’ve got a bit of a shortened preview for you this week as the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup see Hibernian, Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell involved in the semi-finals.

All three league matches kick-off at 16:00 on Saturday afternoon. Hearts and St. Johnstone go up against one another in what is probably the pick of the fixtures while Hamilton travel to Ross County and Partick Thistle welcome Dundee to Firhill Stadium.

Saturday 21 October

1/1 Hearts | Draw 24/10 | St. Johnstone 5/2 (16:00)

Hearts were lucky to escape with the points at the weekend as they squeaked to a 2-1 at Victoria Park against Ross County. This despite having former Liverpool Academy prospect Connor Randall sent off in the second half. That win would have given them a bit of confidence heading into a tough fixture with St. Johnstone at the weekend, who they can leapfrog into fifth position should they win. St. Johnstone were well and truly beaten at home over the weekend, going down 3-0 against a rampant Rangers side. The Saints have now lost their last two matches and will need a big performance against a Hearts side who will be buzzing after last week’s win. Hearts look a good bet here at even money.

5/4 Partick Thistle | 22/10 | Dundee 2/1 (16:00)

Partick Thistle are now adrift at the bottom of the standings after losing 2-0 against Kilmarnock at the weekend. What will be most concerning for Partick Thistle is that they dominated proceedings with almost 60% possession, however, they managed to concede against the only two shots that Kilmarnock had on target. Alan Archibald has much work to do in the coming weeks if he wants to see his side avoid the drop. Olivier Ntcham broke Dundee hearts last weekend after his swerving 61st minute effort proved the difference in a 1-0 win at Celtic Park. Having said that, Celtic did play a slightly weakened side with Brendan Rodgers no doubt keeping an eye on their massive midweek Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. Dundee – despite losing – will be confident heading into this match against the basement dwellers, 2/1 is a huge price! Get on!

17/20 Ross County | 51/20 | Hamilton 29/10 (16:00)

Ross County would have been bitterly disappointed to not come away with at least a point against Hearts who spent the better part of 30 minutes playing with 10 men. The Staggies have now only won once in their last five matches. They’ll fancy their chances against a Hamilton side who are on a dreadful run of form. The abovementioned form has seen Hamilton lose each of their last five games as their slide down the table continues. Even more disappointing for Accies would have been that they actually held a lead in their match against Motherwell but were pegged back and ultimately overtaken by the better team on the day. Ross County are the only side you should be backing here, Hamilton’s form does not suggest they can come away with anything from this match. 17/20 looks a gift.

TREBLE @ 10/1

Hearts Win 1/1

Dundee Win 2/1

Ross County Win 17/20
