Wits unlikely to get Mncwango earlier

SBN understand that Wits are still struggling to agree a deal that will see Mncwango join this month.

After announcing the pre-contract agreements for Polokwane City striker Thobani Mncwango‚ Cape Town City centre-back Robyn Johannes and Maritzburg United’s defender Denis Weidlich, Bidvest Wits are on the Hunt of snapping two of those players up earlier than expected.

The Clever Boys have got one part of the job done by signing Weidlich now, in a swap deal that saw Thato Thlone move the other way. With the latest reports suggesting that Wits would also like to bring Mncwango in their ranks this month rather than on 1 July, we’re told that a deal seems highly unlikely at the moment.

“Wits want the player for free, while Polokwane City want cash for the player, or at least a swap deal, like they managed with Maritzburg United for Thlone, but Wits don’t want to let go of a player” a reliable source told Soccer Betting News.

Rise And Shine have not poured cold water on the deal just yet and are open to letting the 30-year old striker leave the club in January, provided they can agree on a good deal that suits both clubs.

We’ll bring you more on this story as we hear it, with discussions expected to continue later this week.
