Italian Serie A: Gameweek 37 Preview

Juventus players celebrate with their fans

We’ve reached the penultimate round of Serie A football and surprise, surprise, Juventus need all but a point to secure the Scudetto for a seventh consecutive season. Napoli have given the imminent champions a run for their money, but in the end, a lack of consistency has cost them the title. Let’s take a look at this weekend’s action.

Saturday 12 May

Benevento Calcio 39/20

Draw 49/20

Genoa 13/10

(18:00)

Benevento Calcio are unfortunately rooted to the bottom of the Serie A standings but will be looking to claim maximum points in their final top tier home game for the season, hopefully restoring a little bit of pride to their beloved supporters. Genoa have had a mediocre campaign and as a result, lie 11th on the table. They have lost three of their last four matches, including back-to-back defeats. However, they scored two goals against Fiorentina in a 3-2 loss which shows their fighting spirit. Get on Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 6/10.

Inter Milan 1/7

Draw 7/1

Sassuolo 17/1

(20:45)

Inter Milan have been in top form with three wins from their last four games, including a 4-0 victory at Udinese last time out. Sassuolo have also won three of their last four matches, but their record on the road leaves a lot to be desired. At 17/1, the Neroverdi might be worth a small punt, especially given the fact that they have won six of the last seven meetings between the sides. The Draw + Sassuolo Double Chance offers plenty of value at 4/1 – get on!

Sunday 13 May

Torino 15/10

Draw 49/20

SPAL 17/10

(15:00)

Torino will be feeling confident coming into this matchup after holding Napoli to a 2-2 draw last time out. The only negative about that result was that it stretched their winless run to five matches., including two losses and three draws. SPAL have done well to claw themselves out of the bottom three with consecutive victories and they will be looking to maintain that form. The Totals – Over 2.5 Goals – market should be backed at 7/10.

Hellas Verona 39/10

Draw 29/10

Udinese 13/20

(15:00)

Hellas Verona have been absolutely woeful this season. The hosts have lost five matches on the spin, scoring just three times and conceding 13 goals in the process. Udinese are still fighting relegation and are without a win in their last 14 games, including 12 defeats. Neither side are looking anything like a team playing for pride, nor for the chance of another season in the top flight. The draw looks a likely result.

Crotone 34/10

Draw 3/1

Lazio 7/10

(15:00)

Crotone are another team looking to avoid relegation and their recent performances show that they are fighting for at least one more season in the Serie A. Lazio are unbeaten in their last five travels with three wins on the spin. I’m expecting an end-to-end game of football with both sides likely to go all out for the win. The Totals – Over 2.5 Goals – market is tipped at 6/10.

Fiorentina 5/10

Draw 33/10

Cagliari 47/10

(15:00)

Fiorentina have been excellent of late with two wins on the bounce, while Cagliari are in the danger zone near the bottom of the log with three losses from their last four matches, including back-to-back defeats. The Viola have won four of the last five meetings against Cagliari and are tipped to build on that. Take the home team to win.

Bologna 19/10

Draw 23/10

Chievo 29/20

(15:00)

Bologna have been dismal in recent weeks with three losses from their last four matches, including two straight defeats. Chievo are off the back of a hard-fought 2-1 home win against Crotone, ending a run of two losses in a row. The travelling team are also in the heart of a relegation battle and have much more to fight for compared to the hosts. Take the away team to win either half at 15/20.

Atalanta 23/20

Draw 47/20

AC Milan 23/10

(15:00)

Atalanta are unbeaten in their last six matches, including back-to-back wins on home soil. AC Milan have been impressive on the road with four wins from their last six games. La Dea will be looking to pull the double over AC Milan after claiming a 2-0 victory at the San Siro in the reverse tie. However, four of the last five meetings have produced Under 2.5 Goals – I suggest you follow the trend at 9/10.

Sampdoria 36/10

Draw 32/10

Napoli 13/20

(20:45)

Sampdoria have been inconsistent in recent weeks but their home form remains excellent this season with 12 wins from 18 games, including consecutive victories. Napoli are barely clinging to life in terms of their title-chances and I feel this gameweek is where it all comes to an end for them. The Azzurri are playing as though they have given up in terms of their title-aspirations and I think La Samp can put a nail in the coffin on Sunday evening. Back Sampdoria to capitalize on home advantage at a valuable 36/10.

Roma 5/4

Draw 22/10

Juventus 23/10

(20:45)

Roma have been in top form with three wins from their last four games. Juventus are gunning for the all-important Scudetto and need just a point to lay claim to the title for a seventh consecutive season. The Old Lady are undefeated in their last 12 matches on the road, including 10 victories. I’m backing them to put the league to bed with a narrow and hard-fought victory.

TREBLE @ 22/1

Fiorentina Win 5/10

Juventus Win 23/10

Sampdoria Win 36/10
