Mahlasela itching to impress at Chiefs

Kabelo Mahlasela ready to impress at Chiefs

Kabelo Mahlasela is looking forward to finally getting his Kaizer Chiefs career up and running in the Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup pre-season tournament.

Mahlasela suffered a knee injury in training after just joining the club that ruled him out for the rest of the season after joining Chiefs from Bloemfontein Celtic in the January transfer window.

The 27-year old winger is now looking forward to making up for the lost time by impressing for the Glamour Boys in the Maize Cup.

Chiefs will play ABC Motsepe League side-Buya Msuthu in the semi-finals of the tournament that will also feature Premiership sides in Free State Stars and Chippa United.

Mahlasela told his club website: “I am looking forward to the Maize Cup.

I will be ready and give it my best if I’m given an opportunity to play in our game against Buya Msuthu.

The attacking midfielder admitted that it was tough spending a long spell on the sidelines after signing for the Glamour Boys and is now looking forward to proving his worth at his new club.

Mahlasela added: “It was difficult. I wanted to show everybody what I could do; instead, I was out for the rest of the season.

“It’s great to be back in full training with the guys. I want to repay the Kaizer Chiefs supporters and the club’s management for the support they have given me over the last few months.

“It was hard, but everybody stood behind me including our supporters, whose backing was such a moral boost. It’s now up to me to repay all those people with my performance on the field.”
