Tau thrilled to get off the mark in Belgium

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau has wasted no time getting on the score-sheet in Europe in his first start for Royal Union Saint-Gilloise.

Tau made the switch from Sundowns to English Premier League team Brighton Hove and Albion in the off-season, and was subsequently loaned to Belgian second tier outfit Royal Union Saint-Gilloise.

The 24-year-old made his first start for his new club in a Cup match against third tier outfit City Pirates, and netted the third goal in their 3-0 win.

It was a fine finish was Tau, who coolly looped the ball over the Pirates keeper from close range after a neatly-worked move from his team.

I’m obviously happy with this first goal! The team is progressing well, this result is the fruit of our work,” Tau told the club website.

Scoring with a flick? I tried my luck and it went into the goal, I am especially happy that we won and we reached the next round,” he added.

Tau is likely to feature on Friday when his side face Beerschot-Wilrijk in the league, while he should also be called up to the latest Bafana squad which will be announced on Tuesday, ahead of the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
