Wandile Duba struck first at Moses Mabhida Stadium in the 31st minute, before Mfundo Vilakazi sealed the victory with his 83rd‑minute goal.
The result saw Amakhosi move into third place with 36 points from 20 games, one point behind AmaZulu in third place, and was a second win in a row following three previous league defeats.
Magesi, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the standings with 14 points from 21 games.
Speaking after the game, Maboe, who scooped the Man-of-the-Match award for his performance, explained that Chiefs need to keep pushing to end their season on a high.
“At this time of the season we want to collect the points,” he told SuperSport.

“We had a couple of bad results, so now it is about time to pick up points. You never get tired of winning. We need to keep wanting more and asking more of ourselves.
“We are a good team with a lot of talent and we need to keep demanding more, to push ourselves to the limit.”
“It was a good performance against a very awkward team that plays a lot of long balls. We had to pick up the second balls,” added Maboe.
“In the first half we were a bit late to do that or to deal with the first balls. We spoke about it and in the second half we were a lot better.”
