"We can't bury clear-cut chances" - Arthur Zwane Frustrated by Missed Opportunities Despite Strong AmaZulu Start

AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane has expressed disappointment over his side’s inability to convert chances, despite a promising run in the Betway Premiership.

Usuthu sit seventh on the league table and entered the FIFA international break unbeaten in their last three outings—a testament to the youthful squad’s growing confidence and cohesion.

That being said, Zwane remains concerned about their finishing. In both recent fixtures against Sekhukhune United and Magesi, AmaZulu took early leads but failed to capitalize, allowing late second-half equalizers that turned potential victories into frustrating draws.

Head coach Arthur Zwane highlighted the challenges the team has faced in the current campaign.

“I think if we were taking chances that we created from the start of the season from MTN8, trust me, we would have been having a top goal-scorer,” said Zwane to the club’s website.

“In all the games we played, we would have collected maximum points. Against Sundowns, we also missed a lot of opportunities. Before they scored, we would have been leading with three (goals).”

The KwaZulu-Natal based club have led in every match this season besides the 2-0 loss against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld, but have not scored more than one goal in a league fixture.

“The fact is that we are getting there, but the worry is that, as much as we are working on it time and again, we can’t bury clear-cut chances. But we will keep on working, and this is the price you pay if you are working with younger players,” added the coach.

“It comes with more game time and experience for them to get to the level (we need) and understand the demands and the pressure.”

AmaZulu will face Stellenbosch next at the Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium in Durban on 17 September.
