Wandile Duba hails Kaizer Chiefs for the addition of strikers Silva and Ighodaro

Kaizer Chiefs forward Wandile Duba remains confident in his ability to spearhead the club’s attack, even with the arrival of new signings.

Speaking at the Nedbank multipurpose court handover at Phulong Secondary School in Springs on Wednesday, the 21-year-old reflected on his development and expressed his ambition to secure a regular starting spot for Amakhosi.

“I think last season I showed – not too much, but enough – that I’m ready for anything and willing to play because I’ve chosen to be a striker,” Duba said.

The youngster welcomed the arrival of Silva and Ighodaro, insisting their presence has been a valuable learning opportunity rather than a threat.

“I’m happy now that I have Iga and Flavio to learn from because they’ve been there. They always coach me and push me in training. So, I’m willing to play,” he explained.

Duba, who has been at the heart of Chiefs’ youth-driven resurgence, maintains that the added competition will only sharpen his edge and fuel his hunger to become the club’s first-choice striker.

“Even last season, the other strikers pushed me to always work hard and aim to be number one. So, I don’t think their arrival changes much – I’ll keep training hard, and if I have to play, I’ll play,” he added.
