Update: Rushwin Dortley "Working Tremendously Hard" Towards Full Recovery After Knee Surgery

Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley is making significant strides in his recovery from a knee injury that required surgery in March.

According to Chiefs physiotherapist Phumzile Ngobese, the 23-year-old is “working tremendously hard” to regain full fitness.

Dortley, a former Cape Town Spurs player, sustained the serious injury that sidelined him for the latter half of the Amakhosi’s Betway Premiership campaign.

Despite being unable to participate in full team training, he traveled with the squad for their pre-season tour in the Netherlands, where he continues his rehabilitation program under Ngobese’s direct supervision.

Reflecting on the challenging period, Dortley shared his experience with the club’s website: “I was tackled from the side. This is my first serious injury that needed an operation.”

He emphasized the mental fortitude required during such a setback: “One has to be strong mentally, as you want to play, but you can’t. It’s not easy, but I do know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

Ngobese echoed the sentiment, acknowledging the difficulty for a player sidelined from team activities. “It’s tough for a player not to be part of the team operation. However, Rushwin is working tremendously hard, continuously pushing himself,” she stated, highlighting Dortley’s dedication to his comeback.

Dortley’s commitment to his rehabilitation is crucial as he aims to rejoin his teammates on the field and contribute to Kaizer Chiefs’ upcoming season.
