Kaizer Chiefs have announced a third departure as they continue preparations for the new season, following a disastrous 2024/25 campaign.
Attacker Ranga Chivaviro will leave Amakhosi when his contract expires at the end of June. He follows Njabulo Blom, who is returning to his parent club, St. Louis, as he has completed his loan spell, while Sabelo was the first to be axed.
“Kaizer Chiefs will not be extending striker Ranga Chivaviro’s contract when it expires at the end of the month,” said Chiefs.
Ranga joined Amakhosi in July 2023 after an impressive spell with Marumo Gallants where he netted 17 goals in 30 games. However, he experienced difficulties adjusting to the Naturena team’s setup, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in 45 matches across all competitions.
He last scored in Chiefs’ 4-0 thrashing of Free Agents FC during the opening round of the Nedbank Cup on 26 January. He went on to lift the trophy with the team.
The 32-year-old made his last appearance for Amakhosi against Polokwane in the final Betway Premiership match day, coming in as a substitute 12 minutes before the final whistle.
He was the preferred starter when Nasreddine Nabi took over at the start of the season, however, things changed after he struggled to provide goals for the team. Nabi ended up opting to start Wandile Duba while Ashley Du Preez was mostly used as a substitute.
“We thank Ranga for his positive contribution to the team and wish him all the best in his future exploits,” reads a statement that was released by Chiefs.
