Orlando Pirates have confirmed parting ways with veteran midfielder Miguel Timm after spending three seasons with the team.
The announcement was made on the club’s social media platforms on Thursday morning, hours after concluding their Betway Premiership campaign for the 2024/25 season with a 1-1 draw against Magesi.
The 33-year-old joined the Bucs in June 2022, following an impressive tenure with Marumo Gallants, and was featured in 66 matches across all competitions.
He was a regular at the club, but a persistent ankle injury saw his place being taken by Makhehleni Makhaula. He was last featured as a second-half substitute during Pirates goalless draw against Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League match on 7 December 2024, playing a total of nine minutes.
The club recently integrated DDC graduate Simphiwe Selepe into the senior team, who has fitted in like a glove and was named in the preliminary Bafana Bafana squad. Selepe is poised to be Timm’s replacement.
He lifted four trophies, including three MTN8 and one Nedbank Cup title, during his tenure with the Sea Robbers.
The club also expressed words of gratitude to their captain, Innocent Maela, who was playing his last game against Magesi on Wednesday. He is expected to remain with the team in a non-playing role.
Maela played 207 matches, scored six goals and provided 12 assists. He lifted seven trophies with the Soweto giants.
