Transfer News: Kaizer Chiefs Renew Interest in African Midfield Star

Transfer News: Nasreddine Nabi faces a crucial transfer window as Kaizer Chiefs undergo surgery

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has reignited speculation around potential signings after being seen at the Simba SC vs. Singida Black Stars match in Tanzania.

While his presence sparked rumours linking Chiefs to several players, sources close to Nabi have confirmed that his primary target remains Tanzanian international Feisal Salum.

Reports firmly deny any interest in Simba SC forward Kibu Denis.

According to FarPost, Nabi held a key meeting with Salum during his trip, reinforcing his long-standing interest in the highly rated midfielder. Chiefs had previously attempted to sign Salum, but talks stalled due to a major valuation gap between the clubs.

That impasse may now be shifting. According to insiders, Salum is highly receptive to Nabi’s project and eager to join Chiefs next season. Notably, the midfielder’s contract with Azam FC expires in just one year, which could improve his bargaining position.

Salum’s desire for a move is no secret. Back in January, he reportedly skipped training for a week in an attempt to force a transfer, signaling his readiness for a new challenge.

Azam FC’s hefty R40 million valuation has been the major sticking point. With time running down on his contract, however, Chiefs might find themselves in a stronger position to negotiate a more favorable deal.

The race for Salum’s signature remains wide open. Tanzanian powerhouses Young Africans and Simba SC are also pursuing the midfielder, with Yanga especially keen to bolster their midfield following the departure of Stephane Aziz Ki to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.

Meanwhile, speculation linking Nabi to Simba SC’s Kibu Denis has been firmly quashed. While Nabi’s presence at the Simba-Singida match initially raised eyebrows, sources confirmed it was purely coincidental and unrelated to any potential transfer interest.
