The remarkable turnaround in the team’s fortunes has drawn significant attention. African football expert Mogale Sathekge lauded the transformation while speaking on Soccer Betting News, stating:

“The transformation that I’ve been seeing in South African football, it’s amazing. This is very interesting, this is what we see in first world countries, footballing countries like your Spain, England.”

Sathekge further fueled excitement by drawing European superlatives for current South African stars. He specifically compared Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi to Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, noting: “You have Mbokazi, you can liken him to Bellingham… He’s the same age group.”

Furthermore, he also suggested Mbokazi’s Bucs teammate, Sipho Mbule, should be included in the conversation with Juventus and Manchester United maestros. He mentioned, “Sipho Mbule is a very incredible player, he’s a smart player. You know, you can liken Sipho Mbule to the likes of international players, to people like your Andrea Pirlo, your Paul Pogba…”

This upcoming clash marks the first encounter between the two nations since October 2020, when Zambia secured a narrow 2-1 victory in an international friendly. South Africa will be eager to reverse that result and demonstrate their current dominance ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The highly anticipated match, serving as a crucial preparatory fixture ahead of the Morocco spectacle, is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on November 15, 2025.
