Thanks But No Thanks: Kaizer Chiefs Midfielder's Loan at Richards Bay Cut Short

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sabelo Radebe has seen his loan spell at fellow Betway Premiership side Richards Bay FC abruptly terminated.

The 25-year-old joined the Natal Rich Boyz in September, with both clubs anticipating his presence for the entirety of the current campaign. However, a significant lack of playing time has resulted in his premature departure from the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

During his time with Richards Bay, Radebe managed to feature in a mere three matches. This limited involvement has led to the mutual agreement to end his loan, as reported by FARPost.

This situation highlights a recurring theme at Richards Bay this season, where several borrowed players have found their stints cut short due to insufficient opportunities on the pitch.

The article indicates that Radebe is no longer with Richards Bay FC, with the decision to part ways occurring before his loan agreement was set to conclude at the end of the current campaign.

Radebe was part of a cohort of players, including Lebohang Lesako, Darrel Matsheke, and Keletso Sifama, who were elevated to the Kaizer Chiefs senior squad in 2021 under the management of Gavin Hunt.

Interestingly, Radebe is not the only Kaizer Chiefs player currently on loan at Richards Bay. Mduduzi Mdantsane also joined the club in January of this year but has similarly struggled to secure regular first-team action.

Despite these player departures, Richards Bay recently celebrated a crucial 1-0 victory over Cape Town City in a Betway Premiership encounter on Friday evening, with Thulani Gumede netting a spectacular winning goal.

Looking at their upcoming fixtures, Richards Bay’s league match against Mamelodi Sundowns has been rescheduled due to Masandawana’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions League second leg semi-final clash with Al Ahly FC.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, April 26th, the Betway Premiership clash will now take place on Wednesday, 30 April 2025 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Kick off in Pretoria is set for 19h30.
