Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya reveals Arthur Zwane’s words that sparked his AmaZulu journey

AmaZulu FC’s rising striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has credited head coach Arthur Zwane for giving him the confidence to settle quickly.

The 22-year-old joined Usuthu from Zimbabwean side FC Platinum ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season and has already become a regular under Zwane.

A tireless forward who thrives on energy and physicality, Ngwenya has featured in all seven league matches so far, scoring three goals in consecutive draws against Sekhukhune United, Magesi FC and TS Galaxy.

Speaking to FARPost, Ngwenya revealed that it was Zwane’s belief in him from day one that ignited his confidence.

“It has been a very fruitful stay so far, and I honestly appreciate coach Arthur Zwane because the first conversation we had when I came here helped me see the bright light ahead,” Ngwenya told the publication.

“He told me that I have the traits of a complete striker and even predicted that I can rise to be one of the best strikers in the league.

“Those words increased my confidence as I continue adjusting to the fast pace of the PSL. It’s always awe-inspiring to know your leader believes in you, even after such a short time together.”

Ngwenya’s work rate and determination have already made him a fan favourite, and Zwane’s decision to entrust him with regular game time is paying dividends.

Almost three months after leaving Zimbabwe, he remains FC Platinum’s top scorer with nine goals – a tally none of his former teammates have surpassed since his departure.

For Ngwenya, the journey at AmaZulu is just beginning, but with his coach’s faith and his own relentless drive, he is already showing signs of becoming one of the league’s most promising strikers.
