The draw for the Telkom Knockout Round of 16 was made on Thursday with a number of interesting match-ups revealed including defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns clash against Polokwane City.
The draw for the 2016/17 competition was conducted at the Wanderers in Johannesburg amid much fanfare ahead of this season’s kick-off later this month.
In addition to Rise and Shine’s trip to Pretoria, the draw threw up a number of interesting encounters.
Last season’s final saw the Brazilians beat Amakhosi 3-1 in an enthralling match and Chiefs will begin this campaign with a home match against Maritzburg United as they look to go one better.
Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates play host to high-flying Golden Arrows, while Cape Town City will be looking to pile the pressure on struggling Bloemfontein Celtic when they welcome them to the Mother City.
