Ric Flair: "If I read those things, I will laugh"- Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos shrugs off selection backlash before Zambia clash

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has brushed aside social media criticism over his squad choices, insisting he remains unfazed ahead of the upcoming friendly against Zambia.

The Belgian mentor has been questioned for his squad selections in the past and recently was slammed for his omission of Thembinkosi Lorch despite the midfielder’s excellent form for Wydad Casablanca in the Moroccan Botolo Pro 1 League.

South Africa play Zambia in an international friendly at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday and speaking ahead of the clash, Broos dismissed the criticism as “nonsense”.

When quizzed about how he felt about the online abuse, Broos said in the Citizen: “Well, I have to thank you for saying that, because I didn’t know. You know how I feel and think about social media, I don’t follow that at all.

“If I read those things, I will laugh because those are people who think they are important. They are on social media and think they can say whatever they want.

“It is really nonsense and ridiculous and it doesn’t affect me at all.”

Broos has also been criticised for suggesting that Aarhus attacker Gift Links is not good enough for his Bafana team.
