Still Cooking: Kaizer Chiefs Coach Nasreddine Nabi Dismisses Exit Rumours as 'Unprofessional and Disrespectful'

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has strongly refuted speculation surrounding his future at the club, labeling the exit rumours as “unprofessional” and “disrespectful”.

The Tunisian tactician, who recently guided Amakhosi to a long-awaited Nedbank Cup triumph, expressed frustration over reports suggesting that Chiefs management had already decided to part ways with him—regardless of his recent success.

“This kind of news is not respectful,” said Nabi. “Why must there always be talk about whether Nabi is leaving or staying? It’s unfair, and it’s not good for anyone.”

Nabi’s comments come just days after guiding Amakhosi to a landmark 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final – the club’s first major trophy in a decade.

However, despite the cup triumph, Chiefs have struggled for consistency in the league, currently sitting ninth in the Betway Premiership table following a 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United.

With only one match remaining – a must-win clash against Polokwane City – Chiefs are now relying on other results to secure a top-eight finish and MTN8 qualification.

The coach was particularly critical of the timing and credibility of the report, citing the negative impact on both his squad and his own professional standing.

“This creates confusion in my team,” Nabi said. “It’s bad for the players, bad for the staff. The whole of Africa is calling me because they think I’ve left Chiefs – but I haven’t. These rumours are incorrect. Please, be professional.”

Nabi has made a noticeable impact since his arrival, instilling a more disciplined style of play and delivering long-awaited silverware to the Naturena faithful. But uncertainty still lingers over his long-term future.

For now, his focus remains on the final league fixture – and ensuring that Amakhosi finish the season with pride and momentum.

With just one league match remaining, Chiefs will be looking to end the season on a positive note, while Nabi continues to silence the doubters and focus on his mission to restore Amakhosi to their former glory.
