Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the signing of winger Lesiba Nku from Mamelodi Sundowns on deadline day.
The 28-year-old joined Sundowns at the beginning of the 2023/24 season following an impressive stint at Marumo Gallants. However, he struggled to secure a spot in the starting lineup. Throughout the season, he made 28 appearances, scoring five goals and providing one assist, mostly coming off the bench.
Nku is making a permanent move to the Cape Winelands side, where he is expected to follow in the footsteps of newly signed midfielder Thato Khiba, whose standout performance against Kruger United earned him the Man of the Match award.
Stellies CEO Rob Benadie revealed that the club had been monitoring Nku for some time and expressed their excitement at finally securing his services.
“Lesiba is a player we have admired for some time, and we are excited to bring him to Stellenbosch FC. His arrival underpins our commitment to strengthening the team with players of the highest calibre and I have no doubt that his quality will add a new dimension to our attacking options,” he said.
Nku is in line to make his debut on Saturday when Steve Barker’s side take on Sekhukhune United in a Betway Premiership match scheduled for 15:30.
