Another exciting week of La Liga action is upon us this weekend, check out what we have in store! |
Another exciting week of Spanish La Liga action is upon us this weekend. Barcelona’s 100% record in the league ended as they snatched a 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid in the highlight of last weekend’s fixtures. Both sides remain undefeated this season, along with a high-flying Valencia side. The big guns have been handed fairly decent opposition this week, but as the saying goes, “the ball is round”, so anything is possible. Let’s get straight into it!
Saturday 21 October
31/20 Levante | Draw 21/10 | Getafe 19/10 (13:00)
Levante and Getafe kick-start the weekend’s action in a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday. The hosts salvaged a point at Espanyol last Friday, drawing goalless. Getafe dropped further down the table after suffering their second defeat on the bounce. My record for Friday night games have been horrendous this season, so I’m glad La Liga action commences this Saturday. I’m very confident on the Under 2.5 Goals market at 6/10!
11/20 Real Betis | 3/1 | Alaves 47/10 (16:15)
Real Betis’ impressive run of four games without defeat came to an end as they suffered their first home loss of the season, going down 6-3 to Valencia. Alaves have been dreadful so far, winning just one of their eight matches played. They lost their other seven games and sit deep into the relegation zone. Despite losing 6-3 at home, there were a few positives to take from the game for Betis. They’ve been impressive this campaign and should claim maximum points.
9/10 Valencia | 11/4 | Sevilla 26/10 (18:30)
Valencia will be hoping to continue their impressive run this season when they host fifth-placed Sevilla. The Bats are one of three unbeaten teams in the league and have won four successive matches in La Liga. Sevilla dropped down three places as they suffered their second consecutive defeat away from home. Valencia have been brilliant all season and are well-priced for the win at 9/10!
1/16 Barcelona | 11/1 | Malaga 25/1 (20:45)
It’s top against bottom when Barcelona host Malaga in Saturday’s final kick-off. The travellers have been dreadful all season and are the only team without a victory this campaign. Barca dropped their first points of the season when they drew 1-1 at Atletico Madrid. They still have a 100% record at home and should wipe the floor with Malaga. The Catalans have scored 16 goals and conceded just once at home. At 7/10, the Home Win to Nil market offers excellent value – get on!
Sunday 22 October
5/10 Villarreal | 31/10 | Las Palmas 5/1 (12:00)
Villarreal return to the Estadio de la Ceramica, where they are unbeaten this season. The Yellow Submarine have won two of their three games played and come off the back of an impressive 2-1 away win against Girona. Las Palmas were on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline on Monday night, going down to Celta Vigo at home. That was the Yellows’ fourth straight defeat in La Liga and I suggest that it could get worse. Back the home win at 5/10 and include in all multiples!
34/10 Celta Vigo | 47/20 | Atletico Madrid 17/20 (16:15)
Celta Vigo will be hoping to continue their impressive run of four games without defeat when they host Atletico Madrid. The Sky Blues were brilliant on Monday night, where they managed an emphatic 5-2 victory away to Las Palmas. Atletico maintained their unbeaten run this season, but Diego Simeone will be thwarted with his side conceding so late in the game to share the spoils against Barcelona. This is a tough one to call, judging by the fact that both teams are capable of claiming three points on their day. I suggest you play it safe and back Both Teams to Score at even money.
31/20 Leganes | 39/20 | Athletic Bilbao 2/1 (18:30)
Leganes moved up to the UEFA Europa League qualification spot in sixth as they went four games undefeated with their 2-0 win away to Malaga. Athletic Bilbao also moved up a few spots, but still find themselves in the bottom half of the table. They were impressive in their 1-0 win over Sevilla last weekend, and they’ll be hoping to bring that performance into this match. Scorelines between these two sides are usually low-scoring and I’m expecting no different here. Back the Under 2.5 Goals market at 9/20, despite the short price.
1/10 Real Madrid | 9/1 | Eibar 18/1 (20:45)
After what was a disappointing start to the season, Real Madrid have bounced back and will be hoping to make it four league wins on the trot when they host Eibar. Luckily for the champions, they face a side who are winless in four games with just one point to their name in that run. No team has scored less goals than Eibar this season (3), and they haven’t found the net in their last three matches. Real Madrid to Win to Nil offers great value at 17/20 and is definitely worth a punt!
Monday 23 October
8/10 Real Sociedad | 11/4 | Espanyol 33/10 (20:00)
Real Sociedad returned to winning ways when they managed a 2-0 victory away to Alaves last weekend. That kept them in touching distance of the top four, being three points behind Atletico Madrid. Espanyol failed to make home advantage count as they split the spoils against Levante in a goalless draw. Head to head statistics sort of waver in the middle here, so I’d take a gamble on Under 2.5 Goals at 19/20.
1/1 Deportivo | 24/10 | Girona 28/10 (21:00)
Deportivo will be hoping to put salt to the wounds of Girona, who are winless in six league matches. Depor have been decent in recent weeks and will be aiming for their third consecutive victory at home. Personally, I rate Pepe Mel very highly and Deportivo’s star-striker, Lucas Perez. They’re in much better form than Girona at the moment and should claim maximum points – get on at even money!
QUAD @ 7/1
Real Betis Win 11/20
Barcelona Win to Nil 7/10
Villarreal Win 5/10
Deportivo Win 1/1
