Atletico Madrid squandered a chance to trim the gap on joint leaders Barcelona and Real Madrid when a Jose Gimenez howler gave Deportivo La Coruna an easy equaliser in a 1-1 draw at the Riazor last Friday night. Diego Simone’s charges will be expected to return to winning ways when they host Sporting Gijon this weekend as his team can’t afford anymore slipups. High-flying Villarreal will face a daunting test against La Liga champions Barcelona, while Real Madrid will lock horns with Europa League champions Sevilla in what is unquestionably the biggest match of the weekend. There’s cracking matchups to watch and lots of money to be won. Let’s get to it.
Friday 6 November
16/10 Las Palmas | Draw 2/1 | Real Sociedad 18/10 (19:30)
Las Palmas are without a win in their last five games with four losses following their 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid last weekend. Los Amarillos will be desperate to pick up their second win in the league and will be hopeful of securing maximum points against Real Sociedad who sit three points above them in 17th. David Moyes’ side were heading for a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo before Pablo Hernandez scored a stunning strike in the 89th minute to inflict further misery on Real Sociedad and their under-fire manager. Sociedad’s last away match saw them annihilate Levante 4-0 and their impressive record over Las Palmas bodes well for their chances. Moyes’ men are unbeaten in their last six meetings against Los Amarillos with four wins and two draws. Sociedad are well worth a punt at 18/10, but the safest option is taking them on the Win/Draw Double at 9/20.
Saturday 7 November
1/1 Celta Vigo | 5/2 | Valencia 26/10 (17:00)
Celta Vigo returned to winning ways last weekend by beating Real Sociedad 3-2 thanks to a brace from Iago Aspas. Eduardo Berizzo’s boys will be looking to build on that victory but will face a stern test against Valencia. Celta Vigo will rely on the lethal duo of Aspas and Nolito – who have scored 13 goals between them – to get on the scoresheet in an effort to win the game. Valencia come into this match off the back of a 3-0 win over Levante. Los Che will be looking to put in another good performance and build on their impressive record against Celta Vigo that has seen them win seven of their last 11 meetings, losing just twice. There are goals in this Valencia side with Paco Alcacer and Alvaro Negredo leading the attack and I think Both Teams To Score looks a sure bet at 7/10.That being said, Celta Vigo have lost just once this season (against Real Madrid) and if you looking for more value, back the home team to pick up maximum points at even money.
16/10 Levante | 2/1 | Deportivo 18/10 (19:15)
Deportivo earned a commendable draw against Atletico Madrid last weekend and now Victor Sanchez’s side will target all three points against Levante. Deportivo are without a win in their last four games with three draws but can be hopeful of returning to winning ways here. Levante lie at the foot of the table having won just once in the league this season. They’ve scored just six times and conceded 22 goals. Deportivo have won two of the last three meetings with Levante and they’re great value at 18/10. Get on.
17/20 Rayo Vallecano | 26/10 | Granada 3/1 (21:30)
Rayo Vallecano have lost four of their last five games and will be desperate to record a win against relegation-threatened Granada. The Nazaries have won just once in the league this season with five losses. However, their fighting spirit has seen them earn draws in their last four matches. Los Vallecanos suffered a 1-0 defeat to Eibar last weekend, but will be confident they can return to winning ways here. Paco Jemez’s side have won the last three meetings against Granada and with home advantage, they’re tipped to extend that record.
1/1 Eibar | 9/4 | Getafe 29/10 (21:30)
Eibar secured a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano last weekend thanks to an own goal by Diego Llorente. Although the goal that settled the game was a fortuitous one, the Basques were comfortably the better team over the 90 minutes, creating more chances and playing with more purpose than Vallecano. Manager Jose Mendilibar will be confident his team can build on that victory as they come up against a Getafe side who have lost their last two games.Eibar managed a 2-1 win over Getafe at home last season and I’m tipping them to oust their opponents at even money.
19/20 Malaga | 24/10| Real Betis 28/10 (23:05)
Malaga went down 1-0 to Sporting Gijon last weekend, but will be happy to return to their home stadium where they’ve won two on the spin. They host a Real Betis side who have been impressive on their travels. Betis have lost just once on the road this season against Real Madrid but have managed wins against Sporting Gijon and Rayo Vallecano. Pepe Mel’s side have won three of their last four meetings including two on the bounce. Take Betis on the Win/Draw Double at 15/20.

5/10 Athletic Bilbao | 31/10 | Espanyol 11/2 (13:00)
Athletic Bilbao ousted Real Betis 3-1 last weekend thanks to a brace from Inaki Williams. The Lions terrorized the Betis defence from start to finish with Raul Garcia, Aritz Aduriz and Williams the major culprits. Bilbao are unbeaten in their last five games with three wins including two on the trot. Espanyol secured a 1-1 draw at home to Granada thanks to an 89th minute strike from Felipe Caicedo. Espanyol have won just once in their last five games with three defeats against Deportivo, Sporting Gijon and Rayo Vallecano. Bilbao are tipped to win the match at 5/10.
3/10 Barcelona | 9/4 | Villarreal 82/10 (17:00)
Barcelona will be looking to build on their excellent head to head record against Villarreal – unbeaten in their last 14 games with 11 wins. The Catalans recorded a 2-0 win over Getafe last weekend with goals from Luis Suarez and Neymar. Barcelona have won all five of their games at the Camp Nou having scored 15 goals and conceded five times. Villarreal showed their quality in a 2-1 win over Sevilla last weekend. The Yellow Submarine will be hoping to build on that victory but they haven’t managed to win in their last two away games. Suarez and Neymar have been scoring at will for the Catalans this season with 17 goals between them. The home win is a banker bet at 3/10. Include in all multiples.
2/9 Atletico Madrid | 9/2 | Sporting Gijon 13/1 (19:15)
Atletico Madrid have lost just once at the Vicente Calderon this season in a 2-1 defeat to league champions Barcelona. Atleti have beaten Las Palmas, Getafe and Valencia and were unlucky not to have beaten Real Madrid with Antoine Griezmann missing a penalty to draw 1-1. Atleti have lost just once in their last eight encounters against Sporting Gijon with five wins. The attacking threat of Griezmann, Fernando Torres and Yannick Carrasco will provide a constant threat to Abelardo Fernandez’s side. Gijon’s last away game ended in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Athletic Bilbao and Atletico are tipped to oust their opponents from start to finish.Take Atleti to win on the Half-time/Full-time Double at 7/10.
28/10 Sevilla | 3/1 | Real Madrid 8/10 (21:30)
The battle between Sevilla and Real Madrid promises to be a mouth-watering showdown with two talented teams that thrive on attacking football. The Europa League champions went down 2-1 against Villarreal last weekend, but will be happy to return to their home ground where they’ve won three on the trot against Rayo Vallecano, Getafe and league champions Barcelona. Real Madrid will be wary of Sevilla’s attacking threat, but will be confident they can pick up maximum points on Sunday. Rafa Benitez’s side have lost just twice against Sevilla in the last 14 meetings with 12 wins including three in a row. Cristiano Ronaldo could be the difference in this game with his ability to score goals out of nothing. The Portuguese will be looking to build on his eight goal tally and keeping him quiet will be Unai Emery’s greatest test. I’m going for Real Madrid to Win + Both Teams To Score at 18/10.
