Kaizer Chiefs have announced that tickets for their highly anticipated Betway Premiership clash against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates have officially sold out.
The Soweto Derby, set to take place at FNB Stadium on 3 May, continues to capture the imagination of South African football fans.
This fixture will mark the 182nd meeting between the two iconic clubs, a rivalry steeped in history, passion, and drama.
Chiefs hold the edge in head-to-head encounters, having secured 74 wins compared to Pirates’ 48.
The teams have shared the spoils on 54 occasions, while five matches have been abandoned over the years. In terms of goals, Amakhosi also leads with 230 strikes to the Buccaneers’ 197, Sportswire reported.
However, it was Pirates who had the last laugh in their most recent encounter on 1 February. Patrick Maswanganyi slotted home a dramatic 96th-minute penalty to seal a memorable victory for the Sea Robbers at the Calabash.
