Siphesihle Ndlovu fulfils his lifelong dream by joining Kaizer Chiefs

Siphesihle Ndlovu says joining Kaizer Chiefs has fulfilled a dream he and his father have shared for years, after finally completing a move to Naturena.

The 29-year-old midfielder arrived from SuperSport United, where he had been playing since 2022, but his journey to Chiefs has been a long one. Ndlovu had previously been close to signing for Amakhosi during his days at Maritzburg United.

Instead, Orlando Pirates snapped him up before the 2019/20 season, a move that altered the trajectory of his career.

While at Pirates, Ndlovu featured in Soweto Derbies and even found the net against Chiefs in the 2020/21 campaign, though the iconic fixture was played in an empty stadium due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Game time at the Buccaneers proved hard to come by, however, leading to a loan switch to SuperSport United in 2022, which later became a permanent transfer.

Speaking on the Chiefs’ official website, Ndlovu explained the significance of his long-awaited move.

“It was my father’s dream for me to play for the club he has always supported, and since I was about 17 or 18, I’ve wanted to fulfil that ambition. Right now, he is very happy and excited, which means the world to me,” he said.

“A while back I missed out on the chance to come here, so I told myself I would keep working hard. When the opportunity came again, I was thrilled to finally sign for Amakhosi.”

Ndlovu, the 2017/18 PSL Midfielder of the Season and a Bafana Bafana international, has already made an impression in gold and black.

He scored his first goal for Chiefs in their midweek victory over Polokwane City, helping the Soweto giants maintain a perfect start to the Betway Premiership season with six points from two matches.

Reflecting on the strike, Ndlovu said it carried extra meaning and it was a great feeling.

“It was a great feeling. Everyone who played in the first half did their jobs, so it was up to those of us who came on to finish it. That’s why the goal is special for me-it came at the right time. That’s what I call ‘making your mark’.”
