Sekhukhune United midfielder Keletso Makgalwa credited club coach Eric Tinkler for helping him adjust to a change of mentality ahead of Bafana Bafana call-up.
The 28-year-old has been in eye-catching form since his move to Babina Noko from National First Division sided Upington City, scoring six goals and providing 17 assists in 47 appearances.
“I went to Upington because I wanted to start afresh,” said Makgalwa at the Bafana Bafana media conference.
“And I told myself, one day, I want to be at Bafana Bafana and come back very strong.”
Makgalwa has now been rewarded with a call-up to Bafana Bafana’s squad to face Zambia in an international friendly at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
“I did not start the season very well, unlike last season when I had the best season of my career,” added the former Mamelodi Sundowns player.
“So, I had to change my mentality here and there because the team was planning around me. I had to adjust with the help of Coach Eric, and now I am performing well.”
He is likely to make his debut against Chipolopolo in what will be an audition for a possible spot in coach Hugo Broos’ final squad for the 2025 African Nations Cup next month.
