Sealed: Richards Bay Bolsters Squad with Midfield Signing

Richards Bay FC has officially announced the acquisition of attacking midfielder Siyabonga Nzama from Milford FC, further strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.

Indeed, this move comes as no surprise, following earlier indications from chairman Sifiso Biyela that the club remained active in the transfer market.

The 21-year-old Nzama arrives at the Betway Premiership side with a strong reputation. He was named Milford Young Player of the Season last term, a testament to his impactful performance in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

During the 2024/25 season, he featured in 27 games, scoring two goals, and played a key role in Milford FC’s sixth-place finish.

Nzama was also part of the Milford team that famously eliminated Kaizer Chiefs from the Nedbank Cup in the Round of 32 via penalties, showcasing his ability to perform in high-pressure matches.

Richards Bay confirmed the signing with a video posted on their official social media, accompanied by the message: “Welcome Siyabonga Nzama.”

Nzama joins an extensive list of new talents brought into the Natal Rich Boyz, including notable names such as Gabadinho Mhango, Lindo Mtshali, Thabani Zuke, Benson Mangolo, Halalisani Vilakazi, Ntokozo Nzama, Sboniso Madonsela, Philani Khumalo, Lundi Mahala, Mbulelo Nombengula, and Olwethu Mbambo. This influx of new players highlights Richards Bay’s clear intent to build a competitive squad.

Fans may not have to wait long to see Nzama in action. Richards Bay is set to participate in the KZN Premier’s Cup this coming weekend. The Natal Rich Boyz will face newly promoted side Midlands Wanderers in the semi-final of the pre-season tournament at Umhlathuze Stadium. Kick off is set for 09h00 on Sunday, 27 July 2025.

This will be an early opportunity for Nzama to integrate with his new teammates and demonstrate his skills to the Richards Bay faithful.
