Betway Premiership side Richards Bay FC have confirmed that their FIFA-imposed transfer ban has been lifted, allowing them to sign new players once again.
The club was recently sanctioned by world football governing body FIFA due to their failure to settle outstanding payments owed to former defender Abdi Hassan Banda.
However, in a recent statement, Richards Bay announced that the issue has been resolved.
“Richards Bay Football Club would like to confirm that the matter between the club and FIFA regarding the registration ban has been lifted,” the club stated.
“The club is now free to sign any available player.”
Banda, a Tanzanian international, joined Richards Bay during the 2022/23 season from fellow PSL side Chippa United. However, he departed after just one season and later signed for Baroka FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
In January, he left Baroka to return to Tanzania, where he joined Dodoma Jiji FC.
With the ban lifted, Richards Bay can now focus on ending the season stronger and continue to look at players who will help strengthen their squad for next season.
