Nasreddine Nabi celebrated a hard-fought 2-1 victory for his team over Stellenbosch in Wednesday’s Betway Premiership clash.
After conceding an early goal to Khomotjo Lekoloane (20th minute), Wandile Duba responded with two goals (28th and 57th minutes) to secure the win.
It was an important result for Amakhosi after coming into this game on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City.
The result left Chiefs in fifth place with 18 points from 12 games and Stellies down in seventh with 16 points.
Reflecting on the result, Nabi praised the character of his players.
He told SuperSport after the game: “Congratulations to my players. It is not easy to come back from a goal down against a team as good as Stellenbosch. It required character and I feel today we had that.
“A lot of players had pain and some wanted to come out. But they managed to play through the pain to give everything for the team, for the club and for the amazing fans.”
Chiefs have now won their last two home games, after seeing off Chippa United 1-0 on Sunday.
Nabi admits he is looking for more consistency from his improving team.
“After five months there is a lot of improvement in some areas, and we have been inconsistent in other areas,” continued the Chiefs’ mentor. “We feel in some areas we are behind where we should be after five months. But everyone is working to fix what needs to be fixed.
“We will try to catch up on things we should have done better, and we hope to see improvement and consistency very soon.”
Chiefs are next in action against Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
