Kaizer Chiefs have signalled their ambition to reclaim former glory with the signing of ex-Cape Town City forward Khanyisa Mayo.
The 27-year-old joins Amakhosi after a brief stint in Algeria with CR Belouizdad, where he struggled for game time and was deemed surplus to requirements after just one season.
Mayo’s move carries a strong family connection, as he follows in the footsteps of his father, Patrick, who represented Chiefs between 2003 and 2007. The elder Mayo initially played as a forward before transitioning into defence during his five-year stay at Naturena.
The new signing adds further firepower to a squad already reinforced by several high-profile arrivals this season, including Siphesihle Ndlovu, Lebogang Maboe, Thabiso Montane, Luke Baartman, Asanele Velebayi and Paseko Mako.
