Durban City has completed the signing of promising Nigerian defender Collins Nwoburuoke, according to confirmation from his agent, Mike Makaab.
The 20-year-old centre-back, previously on the books of Nigerian side Abia Warriors, has finally found a new home in South African football following a somewhat challenging route.

Nwoburuoke initially arrived in the country with the expectation of signing with Gavin Hunt’s side, a move that ultimately stalled. He then reportedly pursued a trial with Orlando Pirates but was unsuccessful in securing a deal under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
That being said, the young talent’s persistence has paid off, as he has now inked a deal with Durban City. Speaking to FARPost, agent Mike Makaab expressed confidence in the defender’s future, stating:
“Collins Nwoburuoke has completed a move to Durban City. He is a player who has a lot of potential, and he will definitely play a role in the PSL (Premier Soccer League).”
“He signed with Durban City just before the closure of the transfer window, and he’s just waiting for his papers for everything to be complete.”
His arrival bolsters a Durban City side that is currently performing well in the league. The Citizens sit in third place on the Betway Premiership standings, having accumulated 15 points from nine matches.
Nwoburuoke will be looking to secure a starting spot and contribute to their strong form as soon as his paperwork is finalized.
