Kaizer Chiefs face a tough start to the 2025/56 Betway Premiership in August, with the club set to face four teams that ended last season in the top eight spots.
The Soweto giants start their 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign in Cape Town against Stellenbosch on Sunday, a team they have not lost to in a league match since the 2021/22 season.
Amakhosi will then host the unpredictable Polokwane City at Soccer City before welcoming a stubborn Richards Bay four days later.
A huge clash follows against defending champions Sundowns, where The Glamour Boys will be looking to end their six-match losing streak in league matches against the Tshwane club.
Chiefs end the month of August with a tough test in Durban against Manqoba Mngqithi’s Golden Arrows team, who defeated the Glamour Boys in both league fixtures last season.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi will be looking for a much-improved performance from his revamped squad following the disappointing ninth place finish last season despite their Nedbank Cup title victory.
The club has made six new signings ahead of the 2025/26 season including former Orlando Pirates trio Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako and Siphesihle Ndlovu, but also parted ways with eight players including captain Yusuf Maart, who recently joined Austrian side SV Reid.
“How we’re approaching the season with the league, the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederations Cup is to take game by game and do everything we can in every game to win that game,” said the Tunisian coach to the media.
