Mamelodi Sundowns face TS Galaxy at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in a Betway Premiership clash that promises fireworks.

The defending champions, under Miguel Cardoso, are out to reclaim their rhythm after a rare stumble, while Adnan Beganovic’s Galaxy aim to repeat their upset heroics from earlier this month.

Sundowns have been in scintillating form lately, thumping Marumo Gallants 3-1 on February 19, edging Orlando Pirates 4-1 on February 8, and losing 1-0 to Galaxy on February 11—a blip that ended a 10-match league winning streak.

Cardoso has said, “We’re focused on controlling games and scoring goals,” but he’s wary of Galaxy’s counterpunch. With goalkeeper Denis Onyango suspended and Ronwen Williams doubtful, the hosts’ depth will be tested.

Lucas Ribeiro (8 goals) and Iqraam Rayners (7) have been lethal, and Cardoso hinted at their freedom, noting, “They’re key to breaking defences.”

TS Galaxy arrive with confidence despite a 3-2 loss to Stellenbosch FC on February 18, following a 1-0 win over Sundowns and a 2-0 victory against Chippa United on February 4.

Beganovic has said, “We respect Sundowns, but we’ve shown we can beat them.”

Dzenan Zajmovic (6 goals) and Victor Letsoalo (4) lead their charge, with Kamogelo Sebelebele’s hustle a wildcard after his winner in the last meeting. “Our spirit is high,” Beganovic added.

Historically, Sundowns have won six of nine league clashes, but Galaxy’s 1-0 triumph on February 11 and a 1-1 draw last May show they can rattle the giants.

Expect goals—Sundown’s average over two per game, while Galaxy thrives on quick breaks.

X Updates: Sundowns’ official account posted on February 20, “Training hard for Saturday #Sundowns,” while Galaxy’s Sebelebele tweeted, “Ready for the challenge!”
