Peter Shalulile grateful after scoring 100th goal for Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has expressed gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and God after reaching the milestone of 100 goals for the club.

The Namibian forward netted his century in Sundowns’ 2-0 victory over AmaZulu FC in a Betway Premiership clash, marking the achievement in his 194th appearance for the Pretoria-based side.

Reflecting on his journey, Shalulile credited his success to hard work, faith, and the unwavering support of those around him.

“The journey without God – it’s impossible to achieve. But with God, I achieved it through my teammates and the coaching staff, both those who started with me and those who are here now,” said the Namibian in an interview with Sundowns TV.

“I would like to thank the supporters, my teammates, but mostly Christ Jesus, who was with me throughout this journey. It was not easy. As you see, it’s been years of hard work, determination, and discipline, but it finally came through.”

Shalulile emphasized that the encouragement from his teammates and competition among fellow strikers keep him motivated to perform at his best.

“The thanks and gratitude really go to the Lord, my teammates who have been pushing me, and also the opponents we play against. Those are the reasons why I keep going,” he added.

“You know, when you see another striker doing well, it also pushes you to do better. So, for me, the emotions are high – I just feel happy, and I feel like I can do more.

“I would just like to thank the supporters for always coming out in numbers, for supporting us through the thick and thin. It has been a great journey, and we keep on going. Thank you.”

The 31-year-old goal-poacher joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Highlands Park in 2020 and has since established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in South African football.

His consistency in front of goal has been instrumental in the club’s domestic and continental success, and he remains a key figure as Sundowns continue their pursuit of more silverware.
