Percy Tau open to signing for Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates or Sundowns

Bafana Bafana attacker Percy Tau has stated that he is willing to consider offers from any PSL clubs, not only the so-called “big three” of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, or Sundowns.

Now a free agent following his departure from Qatar SC, the Bafana Bafana attacking midfielder was a guest on radio 94.7’s #SMW hosted by Robert Marawa, where he addressed the possibility of a PSL return and responded candidly to questions about a potential move to Naturena.

When asked whether he would accept a two-year contract offer from Kaizer Chiefs worth R450,000 per month, the 30-year-old responded quickly and affirmatively: “Yes.”

While Tau admitted his continued affection for Sundowns, he was clear that he wouldn’t hesitate to join Amakhosi if the Brazilians failed to table an offer.

“I will listen if there are offers – I’m not ruling out anyone. There’s a lot to take in and consider – your age, how long the contract is, and your family situation,” said Tau.

“If that situation were to happen (an offer from Chiefs), I would pay attention to it. But there are still other clubs in the PSL. I played for Sundowns, so I can’t write them off. It’s a team I played for, I won trophies with, and I’ve got so much love for the team and the fans.”

“If Sundowns don’t offer me a contract and Chiefs do, then it won’t be my fault that I’ve gone to join Chiefs – it will be theirs.”

Tau became a free agent after recently parting ways with Qatar SC, a club he joined in January. His career journey has also included stints at Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Belgian sides Club Brugge, Anderlecht, and Union SG, as well as English Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.

With Tau’s proven track record and experience both locally and abroad, his next move will undoubtedly be one of the biggest talking points in South African football this transfer window.
