Richards Bay coach Papi Zothwane has urged his players to remain focused and maintain their winning mentality following their 2-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs.

The win marked Richards Bay’s sixth victory of the season, a crucial result that could boost their confidence as they push to improve their standing in the Betway Premiership.

However, Zothwane has cautioned his team against complacency, emphasizing the importance of keeping the same level of determination for the remainder of the season.

“It’s difficult to ensure that players maintain the same mentality after beating a team like Chiefs. They must stay hungry and continue striving for more. They understand the expectations, and we have to make sure they remain level-headed because, at the end of the day, all points are the same,” Zothwane told the media.

“The only difference is that you can brag about beating Chiefs, but it still earns you just three points.”

The coach further stressed that the team’s focus should remain on moving up the league standings rather than looking back at past results.

“One thing we have instilled in our players is not to dwell on what’s behind us because we can’t change that,” he continued.

“The only thing we can influence is how we challenge those ahead of us. Our attitude has always been to focus on our goals and what we want to achieve.”

Currently, Richards Bay sits 11th on the log with 24 points from 22 matches. With several games still to play, the Natal Rich Boys will be aiming to build on their recent success and continue climbing the table.
