Owen Da Gama: Magesi need to sign ‘soldiers now’

Magesi head coach Owen Da Gama admits his team are in need of signings who have a strong mentality to help the side battle for Betway Premiership survival.

Da Gama’s charges are rooted to the bottom of the standings after losing 1-0 to AmaZulu on Sunday.

The coach revealed that Magesi’s management is well aware of the fact that they need more quality, especially up front, after scoring only four goals in 12 league games.

“The team needs strengthening, there’s no doubt about it. We need to bring in some players and I think the management realise that as well,” said Da Gama.

“We need to strengthen the team, we need to get soldiers now… people that are going to fight for you.

“We’ve got to fight out of this situation… we can’t play out of it but we have to fight out of it.

“We need another experienced striker upfront… just to take the pressure off Makhubu because there’s too much pressure on the boy.

“I think Gift [Motupa] is getting there but he’s not yet there… you can understand how long Gift has been out of the game and he’s a quality player.

“If we can get Gift right and get [Kgaogelo] Sekgota right, we can get there.”
