Oswin Appollis praises Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou

Orlando Pirates attacker Oswin Appollis has praised head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou for his tactics that have changed the club’s fortunes following a rocky start in the Betway Premiership.

Patrick Maswanganyi opened the scoring at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium after just 10 minutes.

Deon Hotto then added a second with 42 minutes on the clock, while new signing Tshepang Moremi secured the result with his strike on 66 minutes, after Maswanganyi missed a 50th minute penalty.

Appollis bagged two assists, for the first two goals, and was rewarded for his performance with the top player award.

Speaking after the game, he praised head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou for his tactics that allowed him to shine against the Chilli Boys.

He said in the Citizen: “It was a vital three points, everyone fought on the pitch and we are very happy.

“Thank you to the coach for telling us we had to press them. One or two of our goals came from pressing them in their own half.”

Appollis added: “I am happy I received Man-of-the-Match but I have to give credit to my teammates.

“Thanks to Gqeberha for coming out in numbers, it was very nice to have them (the fans) everywhere.”
