Orlando Pirates v Magesi: Kick-off time, betting odds, form guide & more!

Orlando Pirates will welcome Magesi to Orlando Stadium this evening as they close out their Betway Premiership campaign.

A victory would see The Mighty Buccaneers hit 63 points—an impressive leap from the 50 they recorded last term!

The last dance

Despite a more consistent run, Pirates were unable to dethrone perennial leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. Nevertheless, the progress made under current management marks a positive trajectory for the Soweto giants.

Their most recent outing, however, was underwhelming. A 1-1 draw with AmaZulu, coached by Arthur Zwane, saw Pirates drop points in a match where they were widely expected to take all three.

Midfielder Siphiwe Selepe rescued the result with a second-half equaliser and later conceded that the team was fortunate to escape with a draw, describing the overall performance as below-par.

Wednesday’s clash offers Pirates a final opportunity to underline their improvement and give their supporters a reason to look forward to next season.

Magesi come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants. A top-eight finish is still mathematically possible but would require an unlikely five-goal margin of victory to propel the visitors up into eighth.

How to watch

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 19:30 on Wednesday, 28 May and will be carried live on the public broadcaster’s radio stations for commentary. The match will be broadcast live on satellite TV giants SuperSport channel 202 and can be streamed on Showmax.

Orlando Stadium

The 40 000-seater stadium will host the clash between Orlando Pirates and Magesi. The Soweto based stadium is expected to be filled to the rafters, as is the case when Pirates take to the pitch. The stadium was refurbished to a state-of-the-art stadium ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and was used as one of the training venues for the global spectacle.

To win (90 min)

Orlando Pirates 1/3 | Draw 33/10 | Magesi 9/1

With interim boss Mandla Ncikazi currently riding an undefeated streak, I can’t see his Pirates outfit slowing down here.

I think the play is Pirates and over 3.5 goals at 4/1!
