Orlando Pirates Transfer News: "I am very happy to be at Pirates" - Bucs Signing Reflects on Dream Debut at Esgodini

In their commanding 2-0 MTN8 quarterfinal victory over Polokwane City, Orlando Pirates saw a brilliant performance from new signing Oswin Appollis.

The former Polokwane City forward, who joined the Buccaneers in the offseason, had a dream debut, scoring a goal and winning a penalty to help his new team advance. His stellar performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

Following the game, Appollis was quick to praise his teammates, emphasizing that the positive result was a collective effort stemming from their hard work during the preseason.

“It was a very positive result, and I am happy for today. But most importantly, I have to give credit to the whole team,” he said as quoted by The Citizen. He also expressed his joy at joining the Soweto giants, telling reporters, “It was amazing to see a packed stadium… I am very happy to be at Pirates.”

The Buccaneers now face a challenging MTN8 semifinal clash against Mamelodi Sundowns. That being said, their immediate focus shifts to the start of the Betway Premiership season.

Indeed, the Sea Robbers face a tricky start to the 2025/56 Betway Premiership season in August, having lost to three of the teams during the previous campaign.

They will host Sekhukhune United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, August 9, at 17:30, in what promises to be a tricky opener to the new campaign.
