The new faces at the Soweto giants include Oswin Appollis, Lebone Seema, Abdoulaye Mariko, Sipho Mbule, Yanela Mbuthuma, Masindi Nemtajela, Tshepang Moremi, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Tshepo Mashiloane and Sihle Nduli.

This comprehensive recruitment drive signals a clear intent from the Pirates’ management to strengthen the team and compete fiercely on all fronts.

Predicted Starting XI and Key Additions:

Based on the new arrivals and recent squad movements, here’s how Orlando Pirates could potentially line up:

Goalkeeper: Sipho Chaine is expected to retain his position between the sticks. After a consistent performance last season, making 47 appearances, he remains the preferred choice in goal.

Right-back: Deano van Rooyen appears to have cemented his place in the starting eleven, especially following the departure of Thabiso Monyane. His reliability will be crucial in this role.

Centre-backs: Nkosinathi Sibisi is set to continue as a formidable presence in the heart of the defense, likely partnering with the promising young talent Mbekezeli Mbokazi. Mbokazi has quickly made a name for himself and is tipped for a bright future with the Buccaneers.

Left-back: Deon Hotto, a natural winger, is anticipated to continue in this converted left-back role. He will have solid backup in new signing Nkosikhona Ndaba, particularly after the exits of both Paseka Mako and Innocent Maela.

Defensive Midfield: I am expecting Thalente Mbatha to maintain his solid and anchoring presence in this crucial midfield position, shielding the defense. That being said, Makhehlene Makhaula is somewhat of a veteran here so he may select himself depending on the opposition.

Central Midfield: Sipho Mbule, a somewhat surprising but impactful signing, is favored to start in central midfield. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has publicly expressed his strong confidence in Mbule’s abilities, suggesting he will be a key figure.

Attacking Midfield: Patrick Maswanganyi, known for his flair and vision, will again be relied upon as the team’s primary playmaker, orchestrating attacks from the attacking midfield role.

Wingers: New signing Oswin Appollis is expected to claim the right-wing spot, bringing fresh energy and attacking prowess. On the left, last season’s standout performer Relebohile Mofokeng will continue to be a significant threat, provided he remains with the Sowetan giants.

Striker: Yanela Mbuthuma, a new acquisition who impressed with strong performances for Bafana Bafana, could very well claim the highly contested number nine role. This position saw frequent rotation last season, and Mbuthuma’s arrival brings a fresh option for leading the line.
